Why I Love This Recipe
This recipe rings in the holiday season every year for my family and is a tradition from my grandparents. We spend a day making a double batch together, share stacks with friends, and enjoy them for the next three months!
Ingredients
9 egg yolks (save whites)
1 lb butter
3 cups sugar
5 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp anise oil
1/2 cup whiskey
Directions
1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add remaining ingredients (other than egg whites) and set aside.
2. Beat egg whites until stiff.
3. Fold egg whites into batter until mixed in well – it should look like raised dough!
4. Drop by teaspoon onto a hot pizzelle iron.
5. Let cool on racks before stacking in aluminum foil. We recommend making a day of this recipe and setting up an assembly line with your friends and family!
